Visiting Tomé you will find a nostalgic city. Each of its streets and buildings from the beginning of the century or 1950’s speak about an incredible past due to port and textile activities. That is why historical tourism is one of the main charms in this city hall inhabited by about 50 thousand inhabitants but it also attracts for their beautiful coastal landscapes on the route which goes from Pingueral to Punta de Parra.
Its north border is Dichato, a 2400 m long beach bay with white sands in which you will be able to practice nautical sports due to the tilt of its beach. In February 2010 this resort was sadly famous due to the earthquake and tsunami which destroyed great part of their beach, but now a days Dichato shows a renewed face and has transformed into one of the favorite places in Biobio due to its complete infrastructure, a new esplanade and boulevard as well as a varied gastronomical, hotel and touristic activities offer including its summer festival.
