Lanalhue lake

ONE OF THE REGIONAL EPICENTERS IN ORIGINARY TOURISM




Since it is close to the sea, the 150 kms drive from Concepción is already a visual show passing by Arauco Province coasts and then enter into a sinuous road until Cañete. Lanalhue lake is located 10 kms far from the city and about 7 far from Contulmo- During summer its shore transforms into a family resort and its 32 km2 are a paradise for nautical sports. The most remarkable are windsurf, waterski and kayak. And although during winter activities reduces, the varied multicultural offer and nature surrounding the lake keeps ensuring fun and satisfies everybody.

Lake is located next to the coastal range, known as Nahuelbuta (Big Tiger in mapudungún). It is surrounded by native forests and plantations, in which you will be able to enjoy nature, trek, practice horseback riding, mountain bike and observe birds which arrives there. The most remarkable species are black necked swans which moved to these waters to transform them into their home.

Elicura Valley near Contulmo is a remarkable area in which there is a huge amount of mapuche comunities, known as lafkenches (people from the coast). This place is one of the central points for indigenous tourism since several communities have opened their doors to visitors, with the chance for visiting rukas, try their food or listen to their stories

In the zone you cannot miss Contulmo, German city hall which culture is reflected in its architecture and gastronomy, a culture fusion which can be feel even now a days.

How to get there?

From Route 5: From Collipulli, take route to Angol (route 182). Once in Angol take route 86 on the way to Los Sauces and then route R-60-P which heads to Contulmo.

From Concepción It is a 170 kms journey to get to Contulmo. You must cross Bio bio river south east through Route 160 passing through San Pedro de la Paz, Coronel and Lota Then, when entering to Arauco, keep on heading to Laraquete, Carampangue, Curanilahue, Cerro Alto, Cañete and Peleco, take that alternative and then take the detour heading to Contulmo (to the left)
